Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder (the one seeing). What do you see when you look at your family and friends? What do they see when they look at you? Before Christmas, I had the opportunity to photograph a strikingly beautiful woman. She gave the portraits of herself to her loving husband and children as gifts. Here is a one of her photos and you can find more of her in my Portfolio: http://www.wintersplendorphotography.com/portfolio/beautyfantasy/
Her name is Lorna. Lorna has had many adventures in life and experienced heartache and many great loves. What do you see when you look at her? When I look at Lorna, I see a happy person, content in life. I see she is older and time has etched its path upon her skin for all to see. I see she has a story. I see her heart worn upon her sweet and gentle smile. I see a beautiful person. Lorna is also a friend. What do I see as a friend when I look at Lorna? I see her spunky personality. I see a great, endearing love for her husband and family. I see kindness, patience, and the want to make others lives happier. I see she has honesty in her eyes and she displays that in her everyday actions. As a total stranger, what do you see?
I have come to realize that with all the cover up we do on a daily basis in life, often times it’s hard for others to see who we really are. To have one on one relationships we must get past the tough exterior of the smiles and makeup we put on for everyone to think we are happy or of some worth… we put on our beauty for an outward appearance. But what we most often do not realize, is that we do not need to do this to be beautiful. What do your family and friends think and see when they look at you? They do not care about your makeup or clothes. These things are not what make you beautiful to them. More than likely, they see the real you, the true beautiful you. They see the you that you should be showing and sharing with the world. I would love to photograph the real you, with or without makeup, if you would allow me to. There is only one question left…What do you see when you look at YOU? I hope you see your heart and how absolutely gorgeous you are!!
